Games
One Small Step, a shared moon that dances to everyone's music, and Slingshot, a gravity-well melee. Both free.
The GAME tab
Open the Library and pick GAME. One Small Step and Slingshot live there. A gamepad is the way to play both, and Slingshot also works on the keyboard. PILOT and AUTO never rotate away from a running game.
One Small Step
A shared moon. Everyone on it hears their own music, and the moon turns all of it into one sky. You drive a rover across lunar terrain, jump craters, transform into a plane, and hang out at the Drive In, where the screen plays visuals to your soundtrack on a 15 second cycle. Other players appear as lights, each in their own permanent color, pulsing at the tempo of whatever they are listening to.
- The first time you arrive, the moon asks one question: Join the shared moon, or Play solo. Joining is free and shares your handle and rover position while you play. You can show up as your IKANDY name or your Steam name, and switch later in Settings under Privacy.
- Change your mind any time with the SOLO or SHARED chip at the top of the moon, or the Shared Moon switch in Settings.
- Press C for the controller map. A jumps, Y transforms to the plane, B fires a paint comet, M opens the radar map, G opens the GIF tray, and a click of the right stick opens and sends a GIF. On the D-pad: up for the GIF tray, down for a greeting flash, left for the palette, right for a waypoint.
- Your music is your paint. Fire a comet during a drop and it paints a fat blazing ribbon; in a quiet bridge, a thin filament. The sky keeps the day's paintings and they fade slowly over hours, so someone arriving late inherits the sky everyone else made.
- Fly like you mean it. Jump, then jump again with the stick held: side throws a barrel roll, back a backflip, forward a front flip, with full air control on the sticks. Other players see every flip.
- Six mini games: Drop Chasing, Prospecting, Groove Runs, Trick Sessions, Constellation Raising and Canvas Flats. Crystals: park close and hold through the beats. Rings: pass them in order on the pulse. The Boneyard rewards air tricks.
- Four points of interest: Earthrise Overlook, Prism Springs, the Boneyard and Tranquility Ring.
- The handshake. Flash your headlights at someone. If they flash back within a few seconds, an arc of light in both your colors bridges your rovers.
- Sparks and the rover shop. Earn Sparks through play and spend them on light rigs, trail tints and horn chimes that nearby players can see and hear. Every GIF plays its sender's horn chime; a GIF sounds switch in Settings keeps the moon silent.
Slingshot
A modern gravity-well melee. Build a fleet from 25 ships on a 200 point budget, five distinct hulls per fleet with a reserve switch, and fight around a planet whose gravity well is the arena. The nebula paints the live spectrum and the well pulses on the beat.
- Solo against easy, medium or hard bots.
- Two players on one keyboard.
- Online, with picks sealed until both players are READY and a ready-up showdown. Both players need the same IKANDY version; the lobby says so instead of desyncing.
- Xbox pattern controllers throughout. Enter or Space selects, Backspace goes back, and a LAUNCH bar ends fleet building.
- The match is a fixed step simulation with checksums, so a tampered client can only void a match, never win it.
- Slingshot's clean stage puts the pets away.
