Loops + recording
Your own video loops as a layer in the show, plus F9 replay, Shift+F9 recording and bar-locked loop capture.
My Loops
The LOOPS tab of the Library is a video library of your own files. A loop plays as a feed on the show, so every Capture FX and live-input effect can run on top of it.
Add and play
- Open the Library and the LOOPS tab. Press Add Video, or drop a video anywhere in the IKANDY window. MP4, WebM, MOV, M4V and MKV are accepted; the file is copied into your library, deduplicated, and given a cover.
- Click a loop to play it. The Library closes, the playing canvas comes forward, and the INPUT effects go to AUTO.
- Each card has a favorite, a name and a BPM tag you can set. Loops play muted: the reaction always comes from the audio source IKANDY is listening to.
- Loops do not join AUTO rotation on their own. A fresh install ships with one starter clip, a 30 second Big Buck Bunny excerpt (Blender Foundation, CC BY 3.0), so the library is never empty.
HDR loops
High bit depth video keeps its color and highlight range through Loops, MIX and the canvas, and Image Studio plays HDR loops natively. Display P3 video keeps its gamut all the way to the screen.
Replay and record
- F9 saves the last 30 seconds. Rolling replay keeps a buffer running in the background so F9 has those seconds. It is off by default because it costs some GPU, and pressing F9 turns it on for you.
- Shift + F9 records from now until you press it again and saves the clip, whether or not Replay is on. It pauses automatically when you turn on span, mirror or wallpaper.
- Turning on Spout or NDI output pauses the background replay recorder so the live feed stays smooth. Press F9 again after the show if you want the replay back.
- In Stage, the CAPTURE bank records 8, 16 or 32 bar loops locked to the live tempo.
Export settings
In Settings, Output, beside the Replay switch: Export quality SOCIAL (1080p at 60 frames per second, sized for social platforms) or MASTER (the native render resolution and a much higher bitrate, for editing); Export format MP4 (H.264 and AAC, the one container Instagram, TikTok and X all accept) or WEBM (VP9 and Opus, encoded in software, so slower); Recording dynamic range SDR, SDR 10 BIT, HDR PQ or HDR HLG; and the Recording watermark switch. Changing quality, format or range restarts the replay buffer.
